winter windows

This is the world, this is the world we live in
It's not the one I choose but it's the one we're given
This is the world, this is the world we live in
And it's the winter windows that ends become beginnings

By the time Cecil got around to getting back to his flat to find Franny. It was too late. She was gone.

It was cold and empty. All her belongings, no where in sight. It was as if she'd never been there. A harsh sadness sank in. Where could she be? They needed to talk, didn't they? Had she tried, and he just hadn't noticed.

He plopped himself down in his livingroom chair. The family he'd always wanted was gone. He thought he might be sick. His throat was parched. He could barely breathe. Even his chest ached. He thought he might really be ill.

What had he done?

Could he have somehow mended his ways if she had been here? He might never know. Cecil sat there as he was overwhelmed with a sorrow that swept through him like a bad storm. He felt so cold, wishing he didn't feel this loss so.

What about Nico and Byron? He was the only father figure they had. Did they miss him? Did she tell them he did this to them? How angry was she? Or was he, who had been so angry with her? He deserved this. He knew it. He had to get used to this amputation in his life. But the wound was fresh in his mind. His eyes swelled with tears.

Honestly, he wasn't as tough as he used to be.

This was so sad. I hope he regrets what he did.
