It was all business with Jeremy at the library, and Jamie liked it that way. Jeremy was telling him he needed to show Anita around, make sure she knew what she was doing.
"You know she's a smart lass." Jamie winced as if Jeremy didn't have a thing to worry about. It was hard to look him in eye because in all seriousness, it hurt to let him go, like this. Somehow, he felt sure they could manage to be mates. It just wasn't in the cards to be lovers right now.
"Yes, of course but-" Jamie knew he wanted this moment to be theirs not this trite library crap.
"I miss you, I do." Jamie then told him. "But I think its best that you're there for Zoe, right now."
"Why? Why should I be there for Zoe?" Jeremy squinted hard as if he didn't understand.
"You have a history with her." Jamie smiled knowing he didn't have to explain it to Jeremy who was just as much as his old self Will. "Don't you think its time you go back to your given name?"
"You mean, Will?" He bit his bottom lip. "But everyone knows me as Jeremy. At least here."
"But you really aren't." Jamie knew it wasn't a personality disorder. Jeremy was the librarian. Will was a genius, now wasn't he?
"But I don't want to be Will."
"That's who you are to Zoe. That's who she knows." Jamie told him.
"But I don't want to hurt her. That's what Will did." Jeremy informed him.
"And now you've come full circle. She'll need you more than she ever did." Jamie had to leave it at that. "Please, don't think its selfish of me. That's all I ask."
"What are you going on about?" Jeremy looked at him so intense. Jamie took his chances then. He knew it was the right thing. Letting him forget this conversation ever happened. Forgetting what they really meant to each other.
Jamie kissed him with an open kiss then as if it was time to set it motion. He kept telling himself deep inside... It would only be for a little while. Jeremy would come back to him when the time was right. It just wasn't right now.
