Jamie could see it coming before it ever happen. He awoke from a fit of sleep. Zoe would be right here with someone else in his bed while he was gone.
He shivered, gritting his teeth. He frowned in disgust. She was not to be trusted.
Jamie looked around the room a bit wild eyed, trying to think it through. What he knew. He squinted hard then. Zoe was with child and didn't even know it. It was his child.
He really wished he didn't know so much, some times. He felt so shaky about the matter. It was happening. Forces of nature at work. And it felt so bitter, than he knew deep down, she felt nothing for him and he felt nothing for her. Or did he? Just bitterness.
He knew he had to keep calm. Only he felt so restless.
There was a tap at his door.
"Jamie, are you in there? You missed breakfast."
He opened the door and there was Sasha with tea.
"You look quite ill?" She winced. "Are you all right?"
"Yes," he shook his head and put on a brave face.
"Is there anything I can do?" She was concerned as she handed over the tea that Jamie hesitated for a moment.
"Doubtful." Jamie faked a smile then, sipped the tea as if all was right with the world.
"Really, you can tell me anything."
"Its quite disgusting, actually." He choked down more of the tea then.
"What is it?"
"Things to come." Jamie winced.
"It can't be that bad, now can it?" Sasha touched his face, but he backed away.
"I'll be fine. Really." Jamie nodded. "And, and thank you."
"For what?" She looked at him blankly.
"The tea. Its lovely. Really." He looked at her thinking of the possibilities with her, but he wouldn't. "Don't you have an appointment to get too?" He sensed her baby moving in the womb. "It won't be long now, you know that don't you?"
"Well, I have to get to work." He smoothed down his bed then. It was made for the day. He knew it wouldn't be long until Zoe found her way here. He opened the door to his room. "Time to go." He followed Sasha out and looked at his room one last time. Jamie wasn't sure if he wanted to come back.
