so much for that

So it was true, Sasha and Rhys were married. Well, Frannie wasn't going to make a big production of it. A part of her was glad Sasha was stuck with him instead of her. She did the only thing she knew to do to accept it, and that was to bring Sasha a basket of muffins.

"You really didn't have too." Sasha looked startled to see her.

"I'm sorry its not anything fancy," Frannie handed over the basket of goodies to her at Sasha's. "Where's Rhys?"

"Perhaps with his brother." Sasha left it at that as she went to put the muffins in the kitchen and make Frannie some tea.

"You'll have to do better than that if you plan on keeping him." She hadn't meant to be so harsh, but it was the truth.

"I'm not planning on anything," Sasha told her. "Except there is one thing you should know."

"What is it?" Frannie remained even lipped.

"This really is Rhys' baby." Sasha nodded.

"How do you know?"

"The sonogram. The doctor said he miscalculated. I was still with Rhys then." Sasha explained.

"Great. I guess." Frannie plopped herself down at the kitchen table.

"I'm sorry," Sasha said. "I know how much you wanted this to be Gaspard's baby, but its not."

"Instead I'm having your husband's baby and so are you. Why is it so easy for me to get pregnant?" Frannie said aloud. It was really the first time she'd ever spoke of this. It was all so mute. Even with Cecil. She'd discussed it with no one, but Sasha.

"You're happy with Cecil, right?" Sasha looked at Frannie.

"But do you love him?" Sasha wanted to know.

Frannie only shrugged. "What is love? I gave up on that a long time ago, and so have you."

Sasha didn't say anything.

"Honestly, I feel you must hate yourself very much to be with the likes of Rhys. You know, he'll hurt you in the end. It might not be some horrific wound, but he'll do it. He will do as he damn well, pleases, and you know... He's a player."

"A slut. A whore. Yes, I know what he is." Sasha sighed then.

"You deserve better." Franny told her.

"And Cecil needs someone who knows he loved." Sasha snapped back.

The tea kettle sang then. It was time for tea.
