Katy noticed Maxie was distant, but even more so when Rhys showed up wanting to rent a room.
"You are going to give Sasha and Rhys a room aren't you?" She hated to sound so demanding but they were friends, sort of. Well, they were people they knew how could he turn them away.
"Of course," he barely said.
"Then what is it? She looked at him a bit cross. He was rather unusual. Not himself at all. Not funny Maxie who found something fond in about anything.
"Nothing." He looked sad though. "I just heard from Frannie, she's moving in with Cecil."
"Wouldn't that room be perfect for Rhys and Sasha?" She looked at him as if he should be pleased.
"I suppose." He shrugged as if he didn't care.
"Well, something is on your mind and you won't tell me." She crossed her arms and gave him the evil eye.
"I'm fine." He promised. "How do you feel?" He meant the baby, not her.
"I'm fine. Perfectly fine."
She'd just have to give him the silent treatment too. She didn't have to take this so she went up to their room. No need to hang out in the kitchen with Maxie. But while she was upstairs in their room, she heard words from the kitchen. She could hear them then. Their voices were harsh and unstable. Katy shook her head, she couldn't imagine what was going on.
