Cecil was surprised to see Frannie.
"Should I have called?" She had Nico in her arms. He took him from her. He was rather heavy, and such a growing boy, or so Cecil thought.
"Did you carry him the whole way?" Cecil couldn't imagine what could have happened to get her here.
She shook her head, no.
"So what is it?"
"I could fix you dinner." She told him.
"I have a frozen pizza in the oven." He told her. "Sorry, I beat you to it." Cecil let Nico down who went to investigate the toys that Cecil had a box of just for him.
"That's so sweet." Frannie saw them then and put her arms around Cecil. It was the best feeling in the world.
"I should check on dinner." He did his best not be so responsive to her affection. Really, he wanted to keep his head about this, and yet immediately he was drawn to her. He wanted her in his bed. Now. But he was beginning to think that was a long shot.
"How are you?" Cecil jerked the hot pizza out of the oven and put it on the counter to cool.
"Good." She nodded.
"You're sure," He looked at her.
"Yes." She winced as if he had to believe her, but he felt sure she looked as if she'd seen a ghost from the past.
He cut the pizza then and grabbed paper plates.
"I'm worried about Sasha," Frannie said as he handed her a slice of cheese pizza.
"She and Ian are on a break."
Cecil wasn't sure he wanted to talk about her. It was a bit of a sore subject to him. Ian too. He had never suspected the two to be linked. Actually.
"I'm sure she'll get through it." Cecil managed to say as he wolfed down a slice and got another while he watched Frannie nibble at hers. "Are you sure that's all?" The piece he'd cooled for Nico was all sliced up in bite size pieces. "Do you mind if he tries some?"
"He would love some." She smiled as he took it to the coffee table for Nico to find. And he did find it, gladly. Cecil watched him for a moment. It made him happy that Nico so took in the toys and the food too as he toddled around.
They sat on the couch and watched him then. Frannie cuddled next to him. It felt to him that she might stay the night.
