Sasha finally got a hold of Frannie. She would be happy to have lunch with her. So would Lauren even if she didn't sound in such a great mood. At least one of them would be.
So she went out of her way to have a good home-cooked meal, a cheesy hamburger casserole and a green salad. It was plain and simple, but she knew neither were expecting gourmet food.
Lauren came first and told Sasha about her predicament with Fletch.
Really, Sasha was a bit shocked, but knew it would do her no good to warn her about him. She was sure Lauren could take care of herself with Fletch.
"Who knows, perhaps you're exactly what he needs. A good kick in the pants." She just smiled.
"I'm glad it doesn't upset you, you know, me helping out Fletch." Lauren reminded her he was her school boy crush at one time. Hadn't he been her first. Sasha didn't want to start anything. In fact, he wasn't, but those days were over. No need to bring Fletch up nor even her first crush Justin. She just wanted to focus on the future.
Finally, Frannie arrived with Nico. Hugs all around. Sasha even had Nico a box of toys to occupy his time with.
"Maybe we should just eat." She hated to spoil anyone with her news about her and Ian and the baby.
"No, no you said you had something to tell us." Frannie nodded.
"Yes, that's true, but it can wait." Sasha just smiled, ready to serve them punch.
"Sis, spill it, will you?"
"All right." Sasha knew she had to go through with it. "Ian and I have a little one on the way." She might as well bite the bullet.
Lauren shot her a look.
"How far along, are you?" Frannie asked with a slight smile as if she were calculating it all in her head.
"A few months." Sasha said quite simply.
"I didn't even know you were seeing him." Lauren winced.
"I know, I thought it just as well to keep it quiet, actually." Sasha sighed and seated them to plates of cheese macaroni.
"All because of me?" Lauren squinted.
"No, of course not." Sasha began then said. "Well, yes, sort of. Well, things had ended so erupt with Rhys, and..."
"All because of me." Frannie then looked at her.
"Well, no, I don't blame you. You know that, Frannie. That was Rhys' doing." She nodded.
"I've moved on too." Frannie then smiled brightly.
"Yes, most certainly." She nodded. "Cecil has come to my rescue."
"Cecil?" Sasha had no idea. Or did she? "Well, that's great."
"hmmm." Lauren almost laughed as she took a bite of macaroni. "Looks as if we've gotten your hand-me-downs, Sash."
Sasha didn't know what to say. Best just to eat and not think about such things.
