Laleh really hadn't gotten the reaction she'd hoped for from her Dad. Ste wasn't worth a trip home from Spain.
This just made her sink into more tears. At least their Dad's insurance would pay for the medical end of Ste's troubles. But it really looked like quite a long haul of it. As it was, she'd seen him after the surgery all bandaged it up with tubes and what not that he was hooked up too. He was like a living mummy.
"What if he's just a vegetable soup now?" Maxie was no help even if he had her arm around her, and they were looking in on him through the glass window while the blinds were open.
"He's not a vegetable." Laleh demanded.
"Well, you can't be sure of that, now can you?" Maxie looked at her.
"Stop being so pessimistic." She huffed.
"Just being realistic, luv."
Laleh pulled a face. "Don't say that."
"What?" Maxie winced.
"Luv. I hate you, you know that very well!"
"I'm just trying-"
She walked away from him then leaving him in the cold hallway. Laleh had to call Lauren, hopefully, she was home from school now.
